2009-2010 - Challenges
10th Anniversary Challenge:
Enjoy doing crosswords? Here's your chance of creating your own. For our 10th Anniversary we would like each member to submit a crossword block. Use your first name as a starting point. You may then add additional words related to quilting to make your crossword. Letters may be embroidered, appliqued, written with permanent fabric pens, etc. etc. ..any way you would to apply them. Some where on the block you may also add your last name, initials, and the year you became a member, or anything else to make your block your own. Each block will be made up of 2.5 inch squares, 8 squares to a row and 8 rows in total, measuring 16.5" . So not finish your blocks as they will all be sewn together to make a quilt for the guild. The Guild will be supplying all of the fabric(s) required and kits including the instructions will be available in November.
Garden/Yard Challenge
Choose a photo/picture of your favorite scenery. It can be of your garden, your yard, or one you've taken while on holidays. Pick two colors from the picture and use them in your wall hanging/bag/tablerunner/quilt. Your projects can be any size and you can use as many additional colors as you choose. Keep your photo/picture as it will be displayed along with the description of the two colors you used.
Celebrating 10
When looking at your challenge creation you must recognize TEN somewhere. It can be the number 10, one square with ten items in it, scattered items that add up to ten, items in groups of ten, made out of ten squares or shapes, ten different colors of fabrics, ten inch block, whatever you think represents TEN. We must be able to see the idea ten at least once on your item. Use your imagination. While making this creation think of all the great times we have shared over the past ten years in the guild. How blessed we are!
