Welcome! We are a group of quilters that meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month, except July and August. We get together at Czar Hall in Czar, Alberta, Canada and work on our own quilts. Meetings

Meetings are held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, except July and August. We meet at the Czar Hall, Czar, Alberta, from 9 AM - 4 PM. Bring your own lunch, coffee and treats provided. Members bring various projects to work on, not all of them quilts! All ages, skill levels, genders are welcome! Nominal yearly membership fee, or there is a drop in fee to assist with the cost of the hall rental.

Quilt Show

The Czar Quilt Guild has an annual quilt show in the fall. The 2011 Quilt Show will be October 21st and 22nd.This is an opportunity for our members to display their hard work and years harvest. There is a small entrance fee, raffle prizes, and a simple lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches, pies and treats are available for purchase. Workshops

This year the Czar Quilt Guild brought Pippa Moore from BC. There was a trunk show the Friday evening, and then a two day workshop. Pippa works with women in Africa, teaching them how to sew. Raising money to purchase the treadle sewing machines they work on. She brought many samples of their work and beautiful African fabric to work with. We are pictured and blogged about on her blog linked from her website.

Challenges 2010/11

#1 CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE – Anything related to Christmas: large quilts, lap quilts, tablecloths, table runners, mug mats, aprons, tree skirts, tree decorations, bags or pillowcases. Anything you can think of! Any questions contact: Anita C. or Janice P.#2 CHRISTMAS PLACEMAT CHALLENGE – Left-over Christmas blocks or fabric? Why not use it to make a place mat? These place mats will be given to our local “Meals on Wheels” recipients. We suggest you make the place mats reversible. Size: 14.5 x 17.5 inches. Any questions contact: Anita C. or Janice P.#3 UFO CHALLENGE – Do you have UFO’S (Unfinished Objects) overtaking your sewing space? Then this challenge is for you. Let’s get those UFO’S finished. Keep track of what stage the UFO was in when you started e.g. all cut, blocks sewn, needed borders, quilted, etc. Take a picture if you wish. Once completed some suggestions to include on the tag for the Quilt Show is info like: what year (approx.) did you start your project? Was it a previous challenge? Any questions please contact: Anita C., Laura C. or Ann M.#4 COZY UP WITH FLANNEL – Create your own version of the cosiest, comfiest Quilt ever! Be creative, any size, any pattern, any color arrangements: only requirement is the top of your project must be made from Flannel! Contact: Anita C. or Carol P.

Dec. 14 - Reg. Meeting – ANNUAL XMAS PARTY & POTLUCK DINNERGuest Quilter & Trunk ShowJan. 11 – Regular Meeting plus Free Motion Quilt Class (10 - 3 PM) taught by Ellen T. If interested, please contact Ellen T. Free Motion Class Supply List.Jan. 25 – Regular Meeting – plus the Annual Sleep-Over For those sleeping over and those planning on returning on Thurs. Jan. 26th there is a Surprise – Project - 80 charm squares sewn together – 8 in a row, 10 rows. – Finish with a 3”" border. (Requirements for this - 80 charm squares, 1.2 m for borders and bindings.) That’s all I can tell you – as that is all they told me!!!!!!!ALSO – if you participated in the Strip Tease class – please bring your project top to “Show & Tell” at this meeting (Jan. 25th). (The project does not have to be quilted – just put together.)Please pre-register for the Sleep-over Project, Carole C. will be taking names….. Feb./ March – Tentative: Quilted Post Cards, Quilted Table toppers
